2.56 FAQ-499 How do I auto fill cells with data?

Last Update: 6/27/2022

Click once on a cell or group of cells and note the black square in the lower-right corner of the selection box. Hover over the black square until you see a cross (+), then drag this selection to the right and/or down, to auto fill additional cells with data.

Auto fill will use the first increment found in the selected region (vertical and horizontal regions may have different increments) to fill the range. If you use the CTRL key while dragging, the fill will repeat the value(s) you've selected.

Note: Double click the tiny corner also fills the column to have same length as left column.

You can pre-select a group of cells, enter a number or text into the active cell, then press Ctrl + Enter to fill selected cells with a common entry. Non-contiguous selections are supported. For versions prior to 2021 (9.8), use Alt + Enter
