6.107 FAQ-1189 Why do I see a “HOSTNAME specified in the license file is not available in the local network database” error? What should I do to fix it?

Last Update: 8/1/2023

If you set up a FLEXnet license server on a Linux OS (e.g. RHEL8.8), and get following error message in the debug log:

(lmgrd) Unknown Hostname: <HOSTNAME> specified in the license file is not available in the local network database.

This is caused by a problem with the hosts file on the server machine. The server cannot recognize the hostname and start properly.

To fix this problem,

  • Please edit the hosts file (/etc/hosts) by adding this line:
<Server_Ip_Address > <HOSTNAME>
