3.61 FAQ-297 How do I locate the peaks in my data?

Plot your data (if you have not already) and make the graph window active, you can either use Quick Peaks gadget or Peak Analyzer.

For Quick Peaks gadget, go to Gadgets: Quick Peaks... and click OK in the bring up dialog. A yellow Region of Interest (ROI) box will show up, place the ROI box to the peak position you want to extract information from and resize it properly. The X position corresponds to the peak will be shown on the top of ROI box. You can then click on the right-sided triangle icon to choose New Output(O) from the context menu so the detailed results of this peak will be output to a result worksheet.

For Peak Analyzer, follow the steps below:

  1. Choose Analysis: Peaks and Baseline: Peak Analyzer.
  2. In the first page (the Goal page), select the Find Peaks radio button in the Goal group.
  3. For nominal data with positive and negative peaks, step through the three steps in the dialog window: Baseline Mode, Subtract Baseline and Find Peaks.
  4. The resulting plot will label each peak with the x-coordinate of the peak center.
  5. The output workbook will show the peak centers in the Peak_Centersn worksheet.
