2.43 Linear Mixed Effects Model(Pro)

Summary

The App Linear Mixed Effects Model is used to fit a linear model for data collected in groups. A mixed effects model consists of fixed effects and random effects. Fixed effects are conventional linear regression. Random effects have linear coefficients that vary with respect to one or more grouping variables.

Tutorial

  1. Start this tutorial with the app Linear Mixed Effects Model installed. If you have not installed this app, please click Add Apps button in Apps Gallery to open App Center to search and install the app.
  2. Right-click on the app icon to select Show Samples Folder context menu to open the sample folder. Drag-and-drop the sample project "LinearMixedEffects Sample.opju" into Origin's workspace to open it.

  3. Activate the first sheet of the source workbook, highlight col(D) and click the app icon to open the dialog.

  4. In the Input tab, Col(D) "Diastolic Blood Pressure" has been selected as Dependent Variable. Choose Col(C) "Heart Rate Variability" for Continuous Variables. Choose Col(B) "Patient" for 1st Subject Variable and Col(A) "Day" for 2nd Subject Variable.

  5. In the Settings tab, choose Main Effects for Model Type and Heart_Rate_Variability is set as Fixed Effects. Check Include Fixed Intercept checkbox. Click the button on the right of Random Effects box and select Heart_Rate_Variability as Random Effects. Check Include Random Intercept checkbox.

  6. In the Quantities tab, check the quantities to output.

  7. Click OK. Three result sheets will be created.
