9.3.7.12 The (Plot Details) Pie Geometry Tab

The (Plot Details) Pie Geometry tab provides controls to edit the view and rotation of the pie chart, as well as the displacement of individual pie slices.

3D View

This group will not be available when the graph is a grouped doughnut(multi-ring doughnut plot).

View Angle

The View Angle setting determines the view angle of the pie chart. The units are in degrees. Type 90 to display the chart as 2D.

Thickness

The Thickness setting determines the thickness of the pie slices. The units are in % of the pie chart radius.

Increment Thickness

When the pie chart is in 3D view, you can enable Increment Thickness control to set the thickness for all wedges incrementally by following the order of the wedges or the values of a dataset, within the specified thickness above.

You can use the adjacent down-down list to decide how to increase the thickness for a 3D pie chart

  • If you select Auto, the thickness of the wedges will increase from 30% of the radius(specified by the Thickness box) to 100%, started from the first wedge to the last wedge by following the setting in the Rotation group.
  • If you select a column, the thickness of wedges will be decided by the value of the column: The wedge with maximum value will have the biggest thickness specified by the Rescale Radius box; the one with minimum value will have the smallest thickness which could be infinitely close to 0.

Radius/Center

Rescale Radius

The Rescale Radius(% of frame) text box resizes the pie chart. The units are in % of the frame size. The frame is the boundary box around the pie chart.

Increment Radius

Enable this control to make a pie/doughnut chart with different radius. You can use the adjacent down-down list to decide how to increase the radius:

  • If you select Auto, the radius of the wedges will increase from 40% of the radius(specified by the Rescale Radius box) to 100%, started from the first wedge to the last wedge by following the setting in the Rotation group.
  • If you select Percentage, the radius of the wedges will be decided by their percentages. The largest wedge which has the maximum percentage will have the largest radius specified by the Rescale Radius box; the one with minimum percentage will have the smallest radius which could be infinitely close to 0.
  • If you select a column, the radius of wedges will be decided by the value of the column: The wedge with maximum value will have the biggest radius specified by the Rescale Radius box; the one with minimum value will have the smallest radius which could be infinitely close to 0.

Horizontal Offset

Use the Horizontal Offset(% of frame) box to shift the chart to the right (n > 0) or left (n < 0). The units are in % of the frame (the boundary box around the pie chart).

Rotation

The Starting Azimuth (deg) setting determines the location of the first pie slice in the chart.

Select the Counter Clockwise box to display the pie slices in a counterclockwise orientation.

Doughnut(% of radius)

Specify whether add a doughnut hole is the pie chart. For the doughnut plots, this option has been enabled by default.

And this control group will be unavailable for 3D pie charts.

Size

The radio control can be used to specify the radius of the central hole of the Doughnut plot. There are two methods to specify the hole size:

  • Hole Size: Directly specify the radius of the hole.
  • Wedge Thickness: Specify the thickness of the wedges.

Actually, the radius of the doughnut plot is the sum of the hole size and the wedge thickness.

Hole Color

Specify the color of the hole. The default is None.

Alternate Color

After set the hole color, you can further set another color to fill the slices in the hole with two alternate colors. The default is None.
