This dialog can be used to carry out two-way ANOVA analysis. To open this dialog, select Statistics:ANOVA:Two-Way ANOVA from Origin menu.

Input

Input Data

Specify Input Data form as Raw or Indexed.

Indexed

In this mode, one column contains factor variables data and the other columns contain levels of these factors.

FactorA
Specify the column of factor 1. Note that the factor column will be set as categorical if Text column.
FactorB
Specify the column of factor 2. Note that the factor column will be set as categorical if Text column.
Data
Specify the response data column.
Raw

In this mode, response data from each level of the factor variables are stored in a separate column.

FactorA
Name
Specify the level names of factor A.
Number of Levels
Specify the level numbers of factor A. The default is 2. And each level will have its own Leveli controls. Note that the system variable @AML can be used to control the max number of supported levels for ANOVA, which is 25 by default. You can change the maximum number of levels by assigning new values to the @AML variable.
Leveli name
Specify the level names of Factor A. The default is FactorA Leveli.
FactorB
Name
Specify the level names of factor B.
Number of Levels

Interactions

Specify whether to compute interactions between two factors

Significance Level

Specify the significance level of two-way ANOVA.

Descriptive Statistics

Specify whether to compute descriptive statistics.

Factor A

Descriptive statistics for factor A.

Factor B

Descriptive statistics for factor B.

Overall

Descriptive statistics for all samples.

Interaction

This check box is available when Interactions is selected. Provides descriptive statistics for the interaction term.

Means Comparison

Choose methods of post-hoc pairwise means comparison:

Significance Level

Specify the significance level for post-hoc pairwise means comparison. The default is 0.05.

Tukey

Different methods for pairwise means comparison. (For more information see Algorithms).

Dunn-Sidak
Fisher LSD
Scheffe'
Holm-Bonferroni
Holm-Sidak
Grouping Letters Table Showed difference of mean value with letters. Same letter means no significant difference, while different letter mean significant difference between two groups.

Power Analysis

Compute power analysis:

Actual Power

Specify whether to perform actual power test.

Hypothetical Power

Specify whether to perform hypothetical power test.

Significance Level

Specify the significance level for hypothetical power test. The default is 0.05.

Hypothetical Sample Size(s)

Specify the hypothetical sample size, using space to separate each entry. The default is 50 100 200.

Mean Plot

Specify whether to generate the means plot for main effects and interactions in the report sheet.

Notes: If the Factor column is Set as Categorical, then the output graph will be plotted according to the categorical order customized through (Column Properties) Categories tab from Factor column.

Output

Dataset Identifier Specify the identifier for the source datasets. Only available when the Input Data is Indexed.
Identifier
Select a type to specify the source datasets information.
  • Range
Use the range syntax.
  • Book Name
Use the workbook long name.
  • Sheet Name
Use the worksheet name.
  • Name
Use the long name of the corresponding column if there is a long name, otherwise use the short name of column.
  • Short Name
Use the short name of the corresponding column.
  • Long Name
Use the long name of the corresponding column.
  • Units
Use the unit of the corresponding column.
  • Comments
Use the comment of corresponding column.
  • <Custom>
Use custom formats to define a data identifier. For its usage, please refer to Complete List of @Options.
Report Tables

Specifies the destination of report worksheet tables:

ANOVA Tables
Specify the destination of of ANOVA Tables.
Book
Specifies the destination workbook.
  • <none>
Do not output report worksheet tables.
  • <auto>
Output report worksheet tables in a new sheet of source data workbook.
  • <source>
Output report worksheet tables in a new sheet to the source data workbook.
  • <new>
Output report worksheet tables to a new workbook.
  • <existing>
Output report worksheet tables to a specified existing workbook.
Sheet
The destination worksheet, always <new>.
Result Log
Use this checkbox to specify whether to output the result to Result Log.
Script Window
Use this checkbox to specify whether to output the result to Script Window.
Notes Window
Use this drop-down list to specify the destination Notes Window:
  • <none>
Do not output to any Notes window.
  • <new>
Output to a new Notes window. You can enter the desired name of the Note window here.
Optional Report Tables

Specifies whether to include additional report tables in the report worksheet:

Notes
Specify whether to output the Notes in report sheet.
Input Data
Specify whether to output the Input Data in report sheet.
Masked Data
Specify whether to output the Masked Data in report sheet.
Missing Data
Specify whether to output the Missing Data in report sheet.
