Input Data Form

Indexed One column contains the group variable and another column contains the corresponding response data.
Raw Data for the two samples are contained in separate columns.

Input

For help with range controls, see: Specifying Your Input Data

  • Input data range when Input Data Form = Indexed.
Group Range The grouping column. Note that the grouping column will be set as categorical if Text column.
Data Range The data column.
  • Input data range when Input Data Form = Raw.
1st Data Range The first sample column.
2nd Data Range The second sample column.

Mann-Whitney Test

Null Hypothesis The null hypothesis. The two samples are from populations having the same distribution (read only).
Alternate Hypothesis
  • Median1 <> Median2
Performs a two-tailed MW-test.
  • Median1 > Median2
Performs an upper-tailed MW-test.
  • Median1 < Median2
Performs a lower-tailed MW-test.
Significance Level

The alpha (α) level of the test.

Exact P Value

Select to output the exact P value. The P value in the Mann-Whitney test can be an exact probability or a normal approximation. For a large dataset, computation of the exact computation may require extensive calculation, particularly in cases when there are ties in the observations. For a large sample, we recommend that you clear this check box and output the approximation. Otherwise, the exact probability should be used.

Output Results
