This contour plot illustrates the influence of two different agents on the survival rate of erythrocytes (red blood cells) that were cryopreserved at high cooling rates (approximately 700 K/min) using hydroxyethylstarch as a cryoprotective solution. Although only 17 parameter variations were tested, the existence of an optimum at 12,5% (wt/wt) Glucose and 110mmol/l NaCl, is obvious.
