This graph demonstrates the validation of a mathematical model of a pedestrian involved in a traffic collision. Initially, a study with a specimen cadaver was conducted. The trajectories of the head, thorax, pelvis, knee joint and ankle joint were obtained from high-speed film. For comparison, the dynamic responses of a mathematical model were also collected. Blue circles in the graph represent the overall kinematics with time-step of 40 ms, whereas the red triangles are the simulation results. The impacting vehicle is traveling from left to right (not presented in the graph). This graph was submitted by Xuejun Liu of the Crash Safety Division, Chalmers University of Technology, 412 79, Goteborg, Sweden.
