OriginLab Releases New Data Analysis and Graphing Software, Origin 2025b

Project Browser, Modern Search Box, Key Chords for User-defined Shortcuts, Recent Files, Interactive Cell Referencing, Dialog for Setting Graph Options, Window Switcher, Trend Lines in Graphs, Report Sheet Graph Size and Arrangement, New Graph Types, New Apps, Other Features

NORTHAMPTON, Massachusetts. June 19, 2025OriginLab, a leading publisher of data analysis and graphing software, today announced the release of Origin® and OriginPro® 2025b. This latest version of OriginLab’s award-winning software application adds 100+ new features and improvements, plus a suite of all-new Apps to extend Origin’s graphing and analysis capabilities.

Origin 2025b introduces a Project Browser, which allows a list view of the contents of a current project, and a quick way to edit multiple selected items. Reduce the list by type (folder, graph, workbook, sheet, column, and more). The Project Browser allows better sorting of items by name, path, size, modified date, and more. Items can also be searched by similar parameters.

A Modern Search Box has been added to the top of the interface, which allows plotting and analysis by keyword search and 1 click to execute. To speed up repeated searches, recently used keywords and recent actions are saved. Search results can be found in menus, toolbars, apps, samples, FAQs, and more. One-click access from the Search Box to the Project Browser, User-Defined Hotkeys, and Recent Origin Files Browser.

Version 2025b provides Key Chord, a new way to create hotkeys, which can greatly speed up work. Easy access of all available hot keys and Ctrl+click menus, toolbar buttons, apps, etc. to define new keys. Key chord for LabTalk script is also supported.

Access the Recent Files button to see a list of recent Origin project files (opj*), workbooks (ogw*), graph files (ogg*), and recently imported data files. A search function further allows for finding recent files by keyword.

Defining cell formula with the new Interactive Cell Referencing. Just click on cells, column header, or drag a range of cells to refer to those elements. Ctrl+E to highlight cells with formulas or links.

The new Dialog for Setting Graph Options provides one place to define common settings for graph axis, font, layout, and legend. Settings can be applied to the active graph, graphs in a folder, all graphs in a project or set as default for future new graphs.

The Window Switcher allows quick toggling forward (Ctrl+tab) and backward (Ctrl+Shift+Tab) through child windows, with preview.

To visualize trends on plot by the data plot's mini toolbar, with options for Linear, Polynomial, Power, Logarithmic, Exponential, and Moving Average. Mini toolbar can be used to customize trendline and formula label.

In 2025b, graphs embedded in report sheets can be customized through the Report Sheet Graph Size and Arrangement feature. Use Mini toolbar button to change graph size and number of graphs per row. Apply the style and scale from one customized graph to other graphs. In the Report Style dialog, under the Preferences menu, define the graph width and the number of columns included.

New Graph Types include Treemap, Heatmap with Dendogram, Heatmap with Grouping, Polar Vector, Polar Quiver, Normal CDF Plot, Interaction Plot, Main Effects Plot, Run Chart, and Symmetry Plot.

New Apps available in 2025b: Design of Experiments, General Linear Regression, Best Subset Selection, Cyclic Voltammetry, Piecewise Peak Fitting, Nyquist Plot, Import and Export STL, Metrohm Connector, and Neware Connector.

Other General, graphing, and data handling features are included in 2025b.

Origin offers an intuitive, point-and-click interface for new users, combined with a wide range of powerful functions for advanced purposes. OriginPro includes all the features of Origin plus extended analysis tools. Origin and OriginPro are used by more than 1 Million registered customers worldwide, spanning Fortune Global 500 companies, research institutions, and colleges and universities across various disciplines including physics, chemistry, biology, pharmacology, engineering, and manufacturing.
