License Management Options
OriginLab offers individual and multi-user packages with a choice of license management options so you can select a license option that works best for you or your organization. License options include:
Node-locked (fixed seat, computer-specific) License
- Each computer requires its own license to run Origin.
- A License Wizard is included in Origin for online activation through the OriginLab website; an offline activation option is also available.
- Licenses can be deactivated directly within Origin.
Concurrent Network (Floating) License
- OriginLab provides a FLEXnet license server. If you already use FLEXnet to manage other software, you may use your existing FLEXnet server—provided the operating system is supported by OriginLab (as long as the OS is supported by OriginLab).
- A license service is installed on a network server or workstation accessible to all Origin users.
- The service tracks the number of machines running Origin simultaneously and limits usage to the number of purchased seats.
- The Concurrent Network license is subject to time zone restrictions, which requires all client machines on which Origin is running in the same time zone as that of the server machine. Additional fees apply for multi–time zone or global usage.
- A borrow option is available for travel or temporary offline use.
- Mixed Origin and OriginPro Concurrent Network Package is available.
- You can restrict usage with an options file.
- Note: The per-seat cost of a Concurrent Network (Floating) License is higher than that of a Node-Locked License..
For details, refer to the concurrent network package documentation.
Dongle
- Available to COM and GOV users.
- A USB dongle is provided by OriginLab. One dongle is provided per seat purchased.
- The dongle must be in the USB port to run Origin.
