New a project, fill 2 cols of row numbers in Book1.
Highlight them to create a scatter plot.
Double click X axis to open dialog, on Scale tab, set Major Ticks' Type combo to be “By Custom Positions“, then fill Position editbox with [Book1]Sheet1!A, click OK.
Save the graph as template “abc“.
New a project again, create a new workbook, Book2.
Fill 2 cols of row numbers in Book2, highlight them, click Plot menu - User Templates - abc.
==> The graph had no ticks or tick labels.
