Create 3D stacked histograms with distribution curves.

Description:

  • Purpose
    This app can be used to create 3D stacked histograms. You can:
    1. Customize binning for each dataset individually or use the same binning for all datasets.
    2. Specify whether to show a distribution curve. The following distribution types are supported:  
      Normal, Lognormal, Weibull, Exponential, Gamma, Laplace, Lorentz, Kernel Smooth, Poisson, and Binomial.
  • Installation
    Download the file 3D Stacked Histograms.opx, and then drag-and-drop onto the Origin workspace. An icon will appear in the Apps Gallery window.
  • Operation
    1. Select the desired data columns from worksheet.
    2. Click the icon in the Apps Gallery window.
    3. In the pop up dialog, customize the bin settings as needed.
    4. Select the distribution curve to be displayed.
    5. Click OK button to create 3D stacked histograms.

Based on the sample data you provided, an XYY 3D Bar graph would be more appropriate than the histogram. You can create this via "Plot > 3D: XYY 3D Bars" menu

1.If steps are irregular like time series how to use this wonderful plugin?

Dataset like top to down waterfall,Long name are Type Category Sort, the left column are 1~17 this step are same, if steps are irregular like time series how to use this wonderful plugin?


2.Data Example like blow,
Time 1 2 3.5 7 20
Type
A 2.2 9 6 8 5
B 1.1 5 2 0 2
C 5 3 9 0 3
D 9 1 3 9 6

3. There should be Opju file to demonstrate this great plugin.

06/23/2022Xiyue2019Thanks a lot for this helpful app! It save me on analysis of some in-situ data.

And one more stupid question, Is there any help files about showing distribution curves, it reffers to 9.6.2 The (Plot Details) Data Tab. I have read this, but didn't find some info about the opinion when I use this app. If there could be further detailed info about the Distribution curves type like Normal, Lognormal, Weibull, etc.. It would be much help for people who is not good at statistical math.

If you want to use relative frequency to plot the 3D Stacked Histograms, I suggest can use "Frequency Counts" tool to calculate the relative frequency, and then use the result to plot "XYY 3D Bar”. Also, you can set the “Z Direction Bar Width" to 0 in the "Plot Details" dialog.
